Jacquie Rogers is a former software designer, campaign manager, deli clerk, and cow milker, but has always been a bookworm. Reading is her passion--westerns, fantasies, historicals of any era, and especially with a dash of romance and humor.
She grew up on a dairy farm outside of Homedale, Idaho, in Owyhee County and has fond memories of the Sage Creek 4-H Club (dairy and beef), the Homedale Rod & Gun Club, and the Stateline Grange. She rode horseback all over the hills where her Hearts of Owyhee series is set with her sister and neighbors, encountering adventures both real and imagined.
She currently lives in suburbia with her IT Guy (also has a license to sleep with him), daughter, and four grandsons. Their home is ruled by The Cat Annie, a feral rescue, who enjoys tromping on the keyboard in the midst of action or love scenes. Jacquie’s a member of Romance Writers of America and Western Fictioneers, teaches classes in both writing craft and research topics, and is passionate about building a broader audience for the western genre.
You can’t take the country out of a girl's heart, though, so it’s only natural that she sets many of her stories in Owyhee County, and nearly all are in rural areas. She also loves animals so you’ll find lots of them in her books. One is even narrated by a mule.
Current releases are: SLEIGHT OF HEART, the Hearts of Owyhee series: MUCH ADO ABOUT MARSHALS (winner of the Romance Through The Ages Best Western Romance), MUCH ADO ABOUT MADAMS, and MUCH ADO ABOUT MAVERICKS. Coming soon: MUCH ADO ABOUT MINERS. Another western historical romance, SLEIGHT OF HEART, is set in Colorado.
Jacquie also writes fantasy and fantasy romance, including FAERY SPECIAL ROMANCES, and FAERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, has dabbled in futuristic, and has short stories in five romance sub-genres and thirteen time periods. A book that defies categorization but has won several awards is DOWN HOME EVER LOVIN’ MULE BLUES, a contemporary rodeo romance featuring Socrates, the matchmaking mule.
