Sara Barnard is the mother of four beautiful children. She earned her BA in European History in 2006 from UTPB in her hometown of Odessa, Texas and now is pursuing her MA in Medieval European History.
Back before she had her family, Sara volunteered her summers with the Forest and Park Services. It was with them, through the Student Conservation Association, that she learned to fly planes, track mountain lions, catch and relocate rattlesnakes, count bats, study birds, evaluate homes for wildfire danger, and of course, cut lots lots of trail through the backcountry.
Beginning in 2009, Sara began writing for publication. Her first published book was THE ABC'S OF OKLAHOMA PLANTS, which she wrote for her children to use as a field guide when they relocated to the Sooner State. Sara partnered with the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center for the pictures in this book, and all of the books of her ABC'S OF AMERICA'S PLANTS series. This title went to #1 on Amazon in Nature books for kids.
Next, came A HEART ON HOLD (AN EVERLASTING HEART, #1). This title became a bestseller and was a top-three finalist for the Best of American Historical Fiction 2013 RONE award. A HEART BROKEN (AN EVERLASTING HEART, #2) is in the running for the Best of American Historical Fiction 2014 RONE award. A HEART AT HOME (AN EVERLASTING HEART, #3) was awarded the Reader's Choice medal and is being considered for the Best of American Historical Fiction 2014 RONE award, and her forthcoming title, A HEART FOREVER WILD (AN EVERLASTING HEART, #4), is set to release April 2, 2014 -- all from 5 Prince Publishing.
Her debut Amish work, REBEKAH'S QUILT, was also born of 5 Prince, has become a bestseller and went to #9 in Amish fiction on Amazon. REBEKAH'S QUILT is also being considered for the Best of American Historical Fiction 2014 RONE award.
Joining the ranks of her children's books was CHUNKY SUGARS and LITTLE SPOON, both recipients of the 5-star Reader's Choice medal, and both from 5 Prince Kids. THE ABC'S OF TEXAS PLANTS, another Reader's Choice medal recipient, has gone to #1 in both Nature book and Plant book for Kids on Amazon and will be carried on the shelves of Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, TX. Designed for the classroom, THE BIG BAD WOLF REALLY ISN'T SO BIG AND BAD is another of Sara's children's nonfiction titles which attained bestseller ranking, reaching the #1 spot in Dog and Wolf Books for Kids on Amazon and receiving a Reader's Choice medal.
